The Dumfries Members of Border Harriers meet and
train together each Tuesday at the David Keswick Athletic Centre in
Dumfries. The faster runners meet at 7.30pm and a U.K. Athletics qualified coach takes a group of intermediates and novices for training at 6pm. On Fridays at 6pm there is also a coached speed session on the track at the Keswick Centre.
The club prides itself on being friendly and
non-elitist in its attitude and promises a warm welcome to anyone wishing to
come along for a run irrespective of their ability.
Each September the Club organises the well respected Gallovidian Dumfries 10k Road
Race. Sponsored by Gallovidian Fresh Foods, the event continues to go
from strength to strength, providing a good night of running for
the many competitors who take part and raising thousands of pounds for the local
'Cash for Kids' charity appeal. In addition this year the club will be organising The Mabie Forest 10k Trail Race on the 15th June.
Many of our members regularly compete in Road Races
throughout the year, supporting events close to home and on occasion venturing
further a field to foreign lands to take part in big city marathons.
